The Turtle symbolises prosperity, abundance, strength and endurance and is regarded as one of the four spiritual animals in China, together with the Phoenix, Dragon & Tiger.

The shell of the turtle is believed to have the markings of heaven & earth upon it. In Chinese mythology the Turtle was said to have risen from the deep with the markings of the eight trigrams on its back, these are used in the I Ching & the Bagwa (9cm x 6cm).
